Tweet After dropping the first set to Renata Voracova, it appeared that the 2009 Champion, Sabine Lisicki, would be a first round casualty at this year’s Family Circle Cup. After a two hour rain delay, Voracova and Lisicki finally took the court. They were the first match on the main stadium. The city of Charleston seems to have adopted Sabine as a favorite after she won her first and only WTA title at the Family Circle Cup in 2009. The crowd was strongly behind the 21 year old German and it’s no surprise. You only have to watch her for a few minutes to realize how charismatic and charming she is. Her smile is contagious. At the end of the match, Lisicki threw her arms up in the air as if she’d won the tournament all over again, not your usual reaction to winning a first round match against an opponent ranked 92 in the world.
